About Our Repairs
We work by offering an initial assessment of a tool or battery.
This generally comes with a small fee, in reality this covers the return postage cost and initial fault finding time. On occasion this will include a repair if its a small enough one that doesn't need spare parts.
Batteries are assessed against the customers reported issue. We check if the battery charges, if it powers a tool etc. initially. Following this we go into voltage testing and identify dead cells, recovery actions, board faults and other issues stopping the battery operating as intended. We inform the customer at this point so they can make a decision on going ahead with a repair or not.
Tools, similar to batteries we assess the tool against the customers reported issue. These could be a variety of issues, the tool doesn't power on, it smokes, smells of burning, over heats, doesn't do something that it should etc. We carry out fault finding, check motors, brushes, wiring etc. and then inform the customer of the issue, so they can make a decision on proceeding or not.
You have a variety of options at this point. We carry out the repair as described.
We offer a scrap value of £10 if you choose not to proceed with a repair. Some are not economically viable. We can use some of the parts in future repairs, so this really helps us.
Or alternatively we return your tool, you may want to try and get more on an auction site such as eBay.
We try to get as many repairs into our social media videos as possible, but due to the volume, this isn't always possible. If you don't want your tool in our videos, please let us know. We also accept donations of old tools for our videos, if anyone would like to send us anything.
Generally we work with the main tool brands, Milwaukee, Makita, DeWalt, Bosch, Ryobi and a few more. We're happy to have a look at anything else, but you'll need to bear with us as we may need to understand the technology on new things.
